Men Without Women, Ernest Hemingway
Men Without Women is a collection of short stories by Ernest Hemingway. The volume consists of 14 short stories, 10 of them previously published. It was published in 1927 and includes short stories that deal with subjects such as war, infidelity, divorce, and death.
It was a quick read as the stories contain a lot of dialogue. It is a great example of the clean prose that Hemingway became well known for. In typical Hemingway form he wrote about things he experienced and was passionate about, the stories covered several of his favorite subjects such as bullfighting, boxing, trout fishing, snow skiing, and traveling in Europe. This collection was published the year after he published his debut novel The Sun Also Rises and was published the year he divorced his first wife Hadley Richardson. He later published many other short stories that were in the setting of Africa and in the waters between Key West and Cuba; this collection was published prior to his first safari and his move to Key West with his second wife Pauline Pfeiffer.
