Use Enough Gun

We were tracking a small bachelor group of about five animals. I had a desire to take an old Dugga Boy with a large hard boss and worn tips, a “proper bull” as they say. We lost the track for a little while in the tall grass then we were able to pick it up again in a dry river bed. Darren, my PH, kicked the sand in the river bed sighed and lit a smoke as he watched the wind swirl around. This time of the morning, as the heat picks up the thermals create an unstable wind. We were hunting in the Luwanga Valley of Zambia, a place full of game. I swung my .470 NE Merkel off my shoulder, I had been carrying the big double, right hand around the end of the barrels with the weight of the gun across my shoulders. My back was aching….. I will post the rest of the story in the adventure story section of my website in the coming weeks.
