C.S.M.C. Revelation Shot Gun

The first time I shot a Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company Revelation shot gun was at Fishing Creek Farms in Union Point Georgia.  My wife and I had driven up from Birmingham to pick out an English Cocker and do a bird hunt and they had one of these 20 gauges available as a guest gun.  I knew nothing about this gun at the time and after a day in the field with it I decided I had to have one.  It is a beautiful round action, over-and-under 20 gauge and the action is finished in a traditional bone and charcoal case hardening with understated engraving, walnut stock and 22 LPI checkering.  It has single selective trigger and automatic ejectors, and the house gun I borrowed had upgraded wood.

Last Spring, I was invited to the Game Show at Bray’s Island S.C. by my dog breeder, and while there I was able to talk to the folks at C.S.M.C. about the gun.  I was measured for LOP and had the gun ordered to my specifications with the upgraded wood option.  I was very surprised at how affordable this gun was.  In my opinion there are much more expensive guns on the market that are not half as nice.  This is not a mass-produced shotgun and to get a semi-custom, individually made shotgun with upgraded wood at the price they were offering was a bargain.

After placing the order at the Game Show, it took about 7 months to get my shotgun.  It came just in time to get in a few hunts at the end of the season.  The craftmanship was superb.  The wood to metal fit to finish was perfect and the overall feel of the shotgun was incredible.  The color case hardening was flawless, and the upgraded wood option was well worth it as they picked out a beautiful piece of walnut. I have now put about 1000 rounds through it between hunting last season and taking it to the clays course.  It points and shoots well and I have not had a single failure. The action opened nicely from the beginning with just a couple drops of oil and some grease and it has broken in well with a number of rounds through it now.  I took it out to the clays course this last weekend and have my first hunt booked for the season next week and I am looking forward to getting back into the field with beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
